I make deep dives into my Obsidian several times a day, helped along by Brian Petro’s Smart Connections inside Obsidian and Smart Connect on my local laptop. On my W11 laptop, my local knowledge management system hooks into connect.smartconnections.app

While updating one of Brian’s Smart Connect Obsidian Community plug-ins, I noticed several helpful functionalities.

Enhanced Context Capability

• Has new context builder that makes managing conversation context easier
• Drag images and notes into the chat window to add as context
• Separate settings tab specifically for chat features

Improved Smart Chat compatibility with Local Models

My Obsidian Note lookups (RAG) are now compatible with models that don’t support tool calling and now I can disable tool calling in the settings for Smart Connect.

Uses Ollama to create embeddings

I can quickly produce original content because Smart Connections surfaces material I’ve already written about things I want to blog and share.

Big Win all around for my Second Brain.
