I help run Tuesday evening Zoom RUNEUAI meetings for a group of students from five universities across three time zones. Our 7 October session focused on effective prompting techniques and AI tools like Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot. Several people encountered challenges accessing our shared Google Drive so we tried using Gemini.Google.Com in a browser and made better progress. We used Gemini to summarize content. One of our participants shared her experiences with Canva, highlighting several of its features for image creation. We will return to Canva AI in a later episode.
We watched the Financial Times video about Jobpocalypse and the decline in entry-level jobs due to AI.
The session also covered the importance of clear prompts, iterative refinement, and the ethical considerations of AI data usage. This is EU-funded programme called "Creating Practical Workflows with AI" stretches across 15 weeks and earns students five ECTS academic credits.
