Simply by turning off the sound of their televised meeting, you could tell who won the debate between Trump (who looked like an incumbent) and Harris (who appeared as a challenger). The debate highlighted stark contrasts in their demeanor and messaging. Trump appeared frustrated, interrupting himself and making unsubstantiated claims, such as linking low global crime rates to high U.S. crime rates and insisting on seeing something about eating dogs on TV. Harris, in contrast, presented her campaign’s economic agenda and directly challenged Trump on his handling of security and election loss. She also emphasized her work on immigration and her stance on abortion. Harris won this debate soundly. If this was European football, Harris would have won 8-0. She prevailed in every exchange and turned personal questions into a discussion about the country. Trump needs to get ready to wear an orange jump suit.

I put a transcript on my Otter service.

Trump Looks Beaten

He is physically hunched, angry, and constantly interrupting himself, unable to finish thoughts. He made strange claims, such as all Democrats wanting Roe v. Wade overturned and insisting on seeing something about eating dogs on television.

Kamala Harris appeared calm and puzzled by Trump’s behavior, with a visual contrast highlighting their different approaches.

Harris' Direct Attacks and Policy Points

Harris directly attacked Trump, calling him a disgrace and questioning his inability to accept his election loss. She highlighted Trump’s multiple bankruptcies and the exhaustion and boredom people feel at his rallies. Harris criticized Trump’s handling of the Russia-Ukraine war, suggesting he would have allowed Putin to take Kyiv. She reached out to Polish Americans in Pennsylvania, potentially winning their support.

Harris Was Smart and Trump Just Rambled

Harris quickly made her policy points, such as $25,000 for first homes and $50,000 for new businesses. Trump just rehashed old grievances.

You Gotta Wonder if Trump Has Lost His Mind

Trump’s obsessive focus on past issues and his inability to control his mind are problems for someone with a nuclear button. Harris looked at him with sympathy and pity.

Trump Claimed People in Ohio Were Eating Cats

David Muir fact-checked that falsehood. The moderators should have challenged Trump making up the name of a Taliban leader too.

Trump Cannot Accept He Lost in 2020. So he won’t accept he lost the 2024 election already.
